Frequently asked questions
Common questions about materials, sizes, custom prints, and care.
Do you offer custom sizes?
Yes. Every print can be ordered at a custom size up to 150cm on the longest edge. Use the enquiry form on any product page and include the dimensions you need; we will send a quote and a mocked-up reference at scale.
Can I commission a print from my own location?
We don't take on commissions to photograph specific locations. The work in the shop is our own; commissioned landscape photography isn't something we do well.
Are the prints limited editions?
Most prints are open edition, available in as many copies as we sell. A smaller number are released as limited editions of 25 on brushed aluminium, numbered and certified. Limited editions are marked on the product page.
What's the difference between canvas, archival paper, and aluminium?
Each material has its own page with the detail:
- Canvas. Warm and painterly.
- Archival paper. Fuji Crystal Archive silk, a silver-halide photographic paper.
- Brushed aluminium. Contemporary, with the metal showing through the highlights.
If you're not sure which to choose for a particular image, use the contact form and we'll tell you what we would print it on.
Do I need to frame the paper prints?
Paper prints ship unframed with a 3cm border for window-mount framing. You can frame them locally or order framed (matte black or European oak) from us directly. Canvas and aluminium prints are ready to hang as-shipped.
Do prints fade?
All photographic prints fade under direct unfiltered sunlight. Keeping a print out of direct sun, or using UV-filtered glazing where that isn't possible, is the only precaution needed.
How do I clean a print?
Dry microfibre cloth, lightly, working with the grain of the substrate. No chemicals, no damp cloth. For framed prints, clean the glazing the way you would clean any picture glass.
Can I return a print if I change my mind?
Because every print is made to order, we don't accept returns for a change of mind. We do replace damaged prints at our cost, and we work with customers who are unhappy with the result in their space. See Shipping and returns for the details.
Do you print work by other photographers?
No. Haperture is a single-photographer label.
Do you ship outside the UK?
Yes. EU and international shipping is available. See Shipping and returns for costs and lead times. EU customers should note that import VAT and duties may apply on arrival.
