Canvas is the material most people think of as a "print" before they know the alternatives. That familiarity is part of the point. It reads as a painting, hangs like a painting, and softens the image in a way that suits landscape photography well.
When canvas is right
Canvas is the right choice when you want an image to soften into a room. It reads warm, integrates with other furnishings, and sits well against plaster, wood, or painted brick. It is forgiving of sidelight and ambient glare. It hangs like a picture.
It is not the right choice when you want an image to stand apart from its room, to appear almost as an object. For that, see our brushed aluminium. It is also not the right choice for work where fine detail is the subject. For that, archival paper.
